Dallas Cowboys: This is Dak Prescott’s Team in 2017

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliot took the NFL by storm last season.

The two rookies led the Cowboys to a 13-3 record, an NFC East division title and a #1 seed in the playoffs. Unfortunately, their season came to an end at the hands of the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional Round.

They’re not expected to put up the same numbers in 2017, but there still is high expectations for the two stars. With two members of the offensive line gone, Elliot will probably not have another amazing performance. This means the Cowboys’ success will rely on Prescott.

Even without two key stars of the offensive line, Prescott will be able to continue to make plays. He still has all of his offensive weapons around him, such as Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley, Terrance Williams and Jason Witten. Not only that, but the Cowboys just drafted Ryan Switzer out of North Carolina. He looks like he could be another great addition to the high-powered offense.

Prescott may find himself scrambling more than he did last season with the offensive line not being what it was. That won’t be a problem. He has shown that he can make plays with his feet as well as his arms.

While throwing for 3,667 yards in 2016, he also rushed for 282 yards and six touchdowns. Expect those numbers to go up as Prescott is expected to be scrambling more than he did last season.

The defense may have many holes in it, but the offense will be the side of the ball that keeps the Cowboys afloat. Much of that pressure is on Prescott. He will need to play his heart out to keep the team in the playoff conversation.

Dallas will open their season against the New York Giants on NBC Sunday Night Football Sept. 10. It’s the third consecutive season the two teams meet at AT&T Stadium in Week 1. The Cowboys pulled out a victory in the 2015 meeting while the Giants won the 2016 meeting.
