Dallas Cowboys: Elliot or Not, Win in Atlanta Almost Guaranteed

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot has been suspended once more. He will officially be suspended for the team’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Another motion won’t be heard until Dec. 1.

No Elliot, No Problem

While Elliot being out could affect the Cowboys play in the game against Atlanta, it doesn’t mean that they will automatically lose. They still have quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receivers Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley, and Terrance Williams. Plus running backs Darren McFadden, Alfred Morris and Rod Smith could hold down the load in Elliot’s absence.

On the other side of the ball, Dallas’ defense has done much better than anyone had expected. Demarcus Lawrence has been a blessing in disguise for them, recording 10 sacks so far. They closed their last two wins against both the Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs.

It also helps that the Falcons have not played like the team that went to Super Bowl LI last season. Matt Ryan has just 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. Star receiver Julio Jones has just one touchdown catch, as well. Dallas’ defense against Atlanta’s offense is the mismatch that will lead the Cowboys to victory Sunday in Atlanta.

Elliot may return for their game against Philadelphia, or he may be out until Christmas time. That is yet to be determined. What is known is that no matter who the running back is, the Cowboys should have no problem winning in Atlanta on Sunday.

America’s Game of the Week between the Cowboys and Falcons is set to kick off around 4 p.m. ET at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Dallas will be looking for their fourth win a row. The Falcons will look to avoid their fifth loss in six games.
