NBA: Boston Celtics vs. Washington Wizards Preview

The Second Round of the NBA Playoffs kicks off tomorrow as the Washington Wizards take on the Boston Celtics.

John Wall has been on another level, while he lead his team to a 4-2 first round win. The Wizards are going to need more of that and strong play from Bradley Beal and Otto Porter if they wish to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Celtics also won 4-2 in their first round series. Whether or not the Rajon Rondo injury had anything to do with that is up for debate. A argument could also be made that the tragic death of Isaiah Thomas’s sister, Chyna, affected the Celtics the first two games. Either way, the Celtics are rolling into this 2nd round matchup against the Wizards on a 4 game winning streak.

A big factor in this series is Boston’s ability to slow down Washington’s high powered offense. It’ll be interesting to see the defensive scheme that Coach Brad Stevens is able to come up with for the Celtics. He will need his shooting guard, Avery Bradley, to be great on both sides of the ball.

On Washington’s side, they will definitely need consistent productivity out of their bench. What I think will put Washington over the top, however, is how well Porter plays. If Porter can be the knockdown shooter he has been all season, then I think the 3 headed monster of him, Wall, and Beal will be too much to handle for the Celtics.

The best part of this series to me personally, is that these two teams absolutely hate each other. This is why playoff basketball is so great. These two rivals will be going to war for the next couple weeks, and it will be must watch TV.

My Prediction: Washington Wizards
