NBA: San Antonio Spurs vs. Houston Rockets Preview

Following the Cavs-Raptors game Monday night, will be the beginning of the Western Conference semifinals as the San Antonio Spurs host the Houston Rockets.

This is arguably the most interesting series in either conference. There’s so many different storylines to choose from, from Kawhi Leonard vs. James Harden to Mike D’antoni vs. the Spurs, the team he could never get past with his run-n-gun Phoenix teams.

No one saw either of these teams being as good as they are. No one knew how the James Harden at point guard experiment would work out, and we thought the loss of Tim Duncan’s leadership would have more of an impact than it did.

The key to this series for the Spurs is the play of Tony Parker and Lamarcus Aldridge . Parker was a key player for the Spurs in their first round win against the Grizzlies. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles the defense from Pat Beverley.  We know Kawhi Leonard is going to show up and be the star that he is, but Aldridge needs to be that second star to help Kawhi.

For Houston, they need to shoot a lot better than they did against the Thunder to win. Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, and Lou Williams all have to put up points in bunches. James Harden needs to be the superstar that he is.

I think the Spurs are the better team, but I think this is a terrible matchup for them. I think Houston wins this series, however, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Spurs won it.

My Prediction: Houston Rockets
