NWSL: Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC part ways

Sky Blue FC is on the hunt for a new manager.

After four seasons as an assistant and head coach, Christy Holly has announced his departure from Sky Blue FC. The news was made public on Wednesday afternoon.

Holly and Sky Blue FC recently featured in a 5-0 loss against the Orlando Pride over the weekend.

“First and foremost, we want to thank Christy Holly for everything he has done for Sky Blue FC,” said Tony Novo, Sky Blue FC President & General Manager. “From the first day he came to our club as an assistant coach, Christy has always been committed to Sky Blue FC, and we wish him nothing but the greatest of successes in whatever he chooses to do going forward.”

“That said, we know that Sky Blue FC remains in great hands with Jill Loyden, Dave Hodgson, Paul Greig and Maria Dorris as we approach the remainder of the regular season with a full ambition of reaching the NWSL Playoffs,” Novo said.

Holly joined Sky Blue in 2013 as an assistant coach under Jim Gabarra, who is now the head coach of the Washington Spirit. He was promoted when Gabarra left the club in 2016.

According to Sky Blue FC, Holly leaves under “good terms” and said the decision was mutual between Holly and the club.

Holly released a statement on his personal Twitter account, which can be read below.
